The situation in Haiti is dire. Lawlessness, high unemployment, no significant infrastructure, natural disasters, concocted crises, rampant corruption etc. One must wonder how such a beautiful country became a basket case?

Well, Haitian leaders after the hard fought war for independence that took 13 years, basically forgot how the" Selfless Heroes of the Revolution" became a force of One with the people to defeat Emperor Napoleon's Army, the world Super Power at the time.

Enfin! How then, those of us including yours truly, who see the glass half full, keep investing hard earned capital, experience, and time in this basket case; often at huge personal costs. Why then the Diaspora and others who chose to stay at great risks, sometimes paying the ultimate price, continue to accept living in Haiti? 

The answer is of course, hope for a better tomorrow. Even though some of us might never see it. Therefore, we keep on trucking! As Alan Kay  said: "The best way to predict the future is to invent it." Therefore, those of us who chose not to be scared and run are inventing the" New Haiti Cherie."
